homesteaders #41: Will Family
Hi. My name is Marie Will and i am a 36 year old single mother. I work at Spectrum Health, in the Butterworth Labratories. I am a phlebotomist (i draw blood) and i love my job. I have been there for 5 years, and have no plans of leaving.
I grew up in Lowell, Michigan, and graduated from Lowell HIgh School in 1990. I attended Grand Valley State University for two years, and then took some time off. I also went to Davenport University in the medical assistant program which is how i got my job at the hospital.
I have two daughter, Zaeliyah Zakiya. They are 12 and 9 years old, and boy do they keep me busy! They are both actively involved in the cheer leading program through Yound Champions. Zaeliyah actually made it onto their 'Super Team' this year and had the opportunity to travel to China this past summer. She trained with the Chinese gymnasts and performed before the Olympic Judges! Both of the girls attend C. A. Frost Academy of Environmental Science and are active in many sports and art program there. They are very active with The Other Way Ministries as well, attending the summer programs and camps that are available.
We enjoy living on the Westside, and being involved in the programs at The Other Way. I really appreciate the support they offer to me and the girls. The Other Way is truely a wonderful place. Living on the westside is also very convienient for me to get to work and to get the girls to school.
We are so excited to be getting our own house! It is a big relief to know that my girls can have a place to actually call home. They will not have to worry about when we are going to have to move next, and now they can paint thier bedrooms any color they want.
I am still nervous, though, about all of the things that could break, or things that wear out and need to be fixed. It will be my house, and my responsibility. No landlord to call! But, now is as good a time as any to learn.
I would like to thank Westown Jubilee Housing for giving us the opportunity to become homeowners and have a permanant place in the Westside community. We are truly excited to become permanent neighbors to some wonderful people.
Thank you and God Bless!
Marie, Zaeliyah and Zakiya Will
